Why a reflector for your dog

In Finland, the reflective season begins on October 1st, and Liikenneturva (the Finnish Road Safety Council) recommends a reflector for dogs as well. Morning and evening walks are taken in the dark for almost half a year – a dark dog disappears from view on the roadside, even if the person themselves has a reflector.

Secure velcro fastening

The fastening around the chest and waist is with hook-and-loop straps. This was chosen deliberately: if the vest gets caught on something, the hook-and-loop fastener gives way and releases the dog. The same fastening offers plenty of adjustment, so the vest fits dogs of various shapes.

Maintenance: regularly clean hair from the hook-and-loop fasteners, otherwise the fastening will loosen.

Tip: combine with a reflective leash or light-up collar – a reflector is only visible when light hits it, while a light is visible on its own.
